May 1st Monthly Educational Meeting With Guest Speaker Danny Tarver, Job Coach
You are invited to hear Danny Tarver, a job coach with Randy & Friends, at the Nami-Hall County Education meeting on Tuesday, May 1st, from 7:00-8:30 pm. We meet at First Baptist Church, 751 Green St N.W., Gainesville, GA in room 206.
Danny, having been diagnosed with a learning disability as a child, as well as suffering from depression and anxiety, developed a special place in his heart for those who were deemed “different”. This included people who had developmental disabilities as well as those who were teased, bullied, or stigmatized for not being “normal”. Mr. Tarver graduated from the University of Georgia in 1996 with a degree in Psychology. He started working with young people with special needs on a volunteer basis in 1998 when his mother opened a small private school near Dahlonega, GA, called Reach Out Christian School. It was there he learned to focus on people’s strengths and talents rather than their limitations and weaknesses. Danny works with a broad range of people with physical and mental differences including Autism, Downs Syndrome, and other developmental disabilities, as well as persons dealing with Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar disorder, P.T.S.D., and substance abuse that so often accompanies these disorders. His personal mission is to embrace and support the isolated and marginalized person who may be facing challenges as a result of their disability and to uplift them to realize their strengths and abilities by providing lots of encouragement, positive reinforcement, solution-based direction, and of course, lots of love. Mr. Tarver will be introducing Zach Fowler, who will talk about his challenges and successes and how he obtained independent employment at Kroger.
